What Is Car ECU?

The ECM is a computerized computer which used in modernised automobiles to alter its electronic modules. Reading input from sensors and transmitting output to the different module, the automobile's computer alter the appropriate functioning of the vehicle.
The ECU gather inputs from several components in the vehicle like the crankshaft and camshaft sensors to smartly process data such as cooling system, injection system, intake and a few other internal components to evaluate and alter the driving state of the transmission, engine system as the lighting control, the AC, the ignition/injection timing and others.
A common illustration is the speed detector found on the wheel which detects the car speed and transmits the data to the car computer. This way, instead of distributing information to multiple modules from one sensor, the information would be delivered by the automobile ECU to all the devices that need this data such as the speedometer, ABS, suspension system and others.
On-board Diagnostics Port
A car that was built with car ECU will also furnish OnBoard Diagnostics (OBD) outline to let driver or officials to connect diagnostic equipage and diagnose the engine control module settings.
ECM theft avoidance control
The car immobilized computer is theft opposing infrastructure built in the engine control module. It forbids the engine from flaring up unless driver is utilizing a registered key. This platform uses a special transponder key that saves the electronic security pin-code or simply the password. The auto main computer will not kindle the fuel system system and the ignition switch if the pin-code in the key is different then the pin-code reserved in the immobiliser.
Worldwide vehicle makers use several types of ECUs as the PCM (Powertrain Control Module), BCM (Brake Control Module), GEM (General Electric Module) and others. Newer vehicle might have a few dosen ECUs and because of this increasing complexity, the coding necessitate in configuring or resetting the automobile's computer is turning much more difficult to maintain.
